Hi There! I'm Megan.

I’m glad you’re here. I’m Megan Mowery—e-commerce writer at Meredith Corporation, do-it-all freelance writer, recent magazine journalism and poli sci grad from Drake University, former ASME Intern at Ad Age…the list goes on. Well, those are the formal titles, anyway.

I’m also a native Wisconsinite, a lover of reading, shopping (duh), and beauty, a passionate consumer of cheese, and an avid beer drinker. If I had all the free time in the world, I’d spend it curled up in a coffeeshop reading a book and listening to Hozier or Maggie Rogers. I’ve spent time living in NYC and Washington D.C., and though I can’t wait to make my way back, I’ve made Des Moines my happy home base for the time being. After all, nothing beats a summer Saturday at the Des Moines Downtown Farmers’ Market.

Over the past year, I’ve found my niche: As a longtime jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none, I fell into an internship in e-commerce and quickly realized I never wanted to leave. It combines my love of shopping with my expertise in recommending products—I’m my friends’ go-to skincare expert, after all—topped off with a dash of business sense that I certainly never expected to love, much less find interesting. Next came my quickly evolving post-grad job as Meredith’s first-ever Branded Content Writer, which allows me to write my heart out on behalf of brands I care about, like Walmart, Houzz, eBay, and more. It also sort of fulfills my Mad Men fantasy of working in advertising, but in a new and creative way. You could say I’m living the dream.

In my now-more-bountiful post-grad free time, I’m hustling as a freelancer for Taste of Home, where I write about anything from vegan chocolate bars to gluten-free beers to the most memorable food moments of the past year. I’m always looking for more ways to overload myself with work (hello, enneagram type 3), so if you like my style and want to see what I can do for you, just drop a line. Just click over to the next tab and check out Megan's Portfolio to get a sense of my work.

Thanks for tuning in. If you want to talk shop (or about which Beatles album is best), feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn, follow me on Instagram, or shoot me an email.
